Are You Scared Yet? ~ by Nathanael O'Leary

As he lies in the still darkness
He feels a presence,
A strong, dark presence,
The blindness of night.
He flicks his lamp, a figure remains.
Frozen with fear, the light flickers
The shadow creaking as it moves,
The light blows
 his body trembles
The screech of a rusty door hinge
The sound of footsteps on the floor outside.

His legs carry him out the door.
The shadowed figure stands
The door slams.
His body cold with fear
Runs towards his sister's room.
The landing light flickers
The floor creaks behind him.
A cold breath on his neck
Peetrified he feels the evil.
He moves for the room
Reaches the bed.
The door flings open,
The shadow stands filling the frame
Slow steps enter the room
Eyes closed he hears them.

He hears a low hissing voice
'Are you scared yet?'
A faint menacing laugh,
The door slams
The t.v. flashes
The thunder of the stairs,
Blood rush
Body cold
He lies - hoping the night will end.
The voice resounding through his head
'Are you scared yet?'
All he could think was 'Yes'
